100 Insights in 100 Days

In an effort to become a better writer, strategist and stretch myself I undertook a 100 day project in 2015. The goal was to write 100 insights on 100 post it notes in 100 days.

ABOUT THE 100 DAY PROJECT

The 100 day project is inspired the following books:

  • Elle Luna ‘The crossroads of should and must’

  • Josh Kaufman 'How to learn anything in 20 hours'

  • Malcom Gladwell 'The Tipping Point'

  • Russ Harris 'The Confidence Gap'

After reading these books I was inspired to challenge myself to become a better, more efficient strategist.

The goals were:

  • Become more concise and persuasive writer,

  • Refine my insights,

  • Practice being creative every day,

  • Gain experience thinking about as many different industries as possible,

  • and get closer to my 10,000 hours.

Here are a few lessons I learnt:

  • Forgive yourself the horror of your first draft. Anything worth doing, is worth doing poorly first.

  • Change takes time - The real lessons are in the journey, not the destination.

  • Your intuition is a great bullshit detector.

  • You can’t force a ponytail. - you should never force a strategy. When it's not working, let it go and try something completely different.

  • Don’t wait for motivation, confidence, creativity, or that magic bolt of lightning. JUST START.

  • If you can get a physicist to understand your strategy, it's a great indicator that it's true, clear and useful.  -  *note that my housemate is a Physicist.
